The use of artificial intelligence (AI) will permanently change many areas of life and industries. Logistics is one of them. The upheaval will be drastic and irreversible. This is because artificial intelligence is the game changer in the optimisation of warehousing, transport processes and supply chains. AI generates the decisive efficiency and cost advantages and at the same time makes it possible to reduce pollutant emissions and the use of resources in an environmentally friendly manner. The intelligent integration of AI will therefore be a decisive factor in logistics, enabling industry winners to differentiate themselves. Without artificial intelligence, however, no market player will be able to survive in the long term anyway.
Logistics is perfectly suited to the use of artificial intelligence, where it can fully utilise its strengths: As part of the increasing automation of supply chains, it takes over process control and optimisation. Robots are already playing an increasingly important role in the mega warehouses of global logistics companies and goods suppliers. Drones and autonomous transport vehicles will become even more important in the future. Powerful AI can control them far more efficiently than human employees. At the same time, AI is able to develop and implement customised solutions that take into account the individual requirements of each company and adapt flexibly to the respective delivery situation.
