“Our industry needs innovation”

Logistics service provider JAS Worldwide and tech start-up Alpha Augmented Services are in the first year of their collaboration. In this DVZ interview, Andrea Goeman, Senior Vice President Sustainability at JAS, and Massimo Rossetti, CEO and Co-Founder of Alpha, talk about the start and current status of their partnership.

DVZ: Why was JAS looking for a partner for software solutions? And how did the decision in favour of Alpha come about?

Andrea Goeman: Our industry clearly needs innovation. Freight forwarding today can no longer function in the same way as it did 10 or 20 years ago. That’s why we need strong partners who offer added value for our customers, ideally not only for major customers, but also for small and medium-sized companies. After many discussions with our customers over the last few years, we have realised that, in addition to resilience and reliability, they also want sustainability combined with cost savings. Alpha’s idea of shipping less air and packing more intelligently by making better use of pallets and containers can fulfil precisely these wishes of our customers.

Massimo Rossetti: Customers are not necessarily prepared to increase costs significantly in order to become more sustainable. That’s why they often look for solutions that allow them to save C02 and costs at the same time. We can offer this with our software, which can reduce costs and emissions by up to 20 per cent and increase productivity at the same time.
